Diagnostic
Overnight Sleep Study or Polysomnogram (PSG)
You and your child spend the night in our sleep lab to evaluate for specific sleep disorders. During the study, we record the child’s brain activity, eye movements, muscle tone, breathing, oxygen levels, carbon dioxide levels, heart rate and thythm and leg movements
Daytime Nap Study or Multiple Sleep Latency Test (MSLT)
This is to test for excessive daytime sleepiness to evaluate for specific sleep disorders such as narcolepsy. We measure how quickly your child falls asleep in a quiet environment during the day,
Overnight Oximetry
We provide you a mobile monitor to take home and record your child’s heart rate and blood oxygen content during sleep.
Actigraphy
This is a watch-like device which provides information about your child’s sleep-wake patterns. We will consider providing you with this mobile tool if we are evaluating your child for problems of wake and sleep timing, or excessive daytime sleepiness.
Therapeutic
Behavioral Sleep Services
In addition to providing guidance on age-appropriate sleep times and a healthy sleep routine, we are capable of helping families struggling with a child exhibiting bedtime resistance or difficulty falling back asleep after waking at night.
Positive Airway Pressure (PAP) Therapy
If your child is prescribed continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP), bi-level positive airway pressure therapy (BPAP) or a mechanical ventilator, we help to determine the specific settings during an overnight sleep study, Additionally, many children and teenagers struggle to adapt to this therapy, for which we have developed a multi- disciplinary desensitization program.
Medications
In some circumstances, over-the-counter or prescription medications may be recommended to treat your child’s sleep problems. We may also provide guidance on adjusting medications which your child may already be taking.
Surgery
We work closely with general pediatric surgeons, craniofacial surgeons, and ear, nose and throat (ENT) physicians to optimally treat sleep-related breathing disorders.
