Dr. Kothari was born and raised in Houston, Texas. Having completed fellowships in both pediatric pulmonary and sleep medicine at Texas Children’s Hospital, Dr. Kothari has expertise in the evaluation and treatment of a wide range of respiratory and sleep disorders in children. He used these skills to help re-establish and expand a pediatric pulmonary and sleep medicine division while working as an assistant professor at WVU’s quaternary care academic children’s hospital. His experiences in academic medicine and program development enabled him to develop and lead Pediatric Sleep Specialists (PSS) growing programs today.
At PSS, Dr. Kothari developed a comprehensive pediatric sleep disorders care model that focuses on patient education. This model aims to provide sustainable improvements in sleep and overall health for children and their families. In an effort to serve more patients, he developed a clinical nurse practitioner training program that focuses on increasing the pediatric sleep medicine workforce. A similar emphasis is being placed on training area sleep lab technicians.
Like many pediatric subspecialists, Dr. Kothari is drawn to working with children because they’re resilient and are often the source of strength in the room when faced with challenging clinical situations. He loves to hear trainees at PSS find satisfaction in the impact that our care has on children and their families.
When Dr. Kothari is not busy serving his patients and staff at PSS, you can find him spending quality time with his family and friends, teaching his kids how to play sports or planning his next family vacation.
Dr. Brockbank grew up in the Washington, D.C. area, completed his undergrad at BYU and then attended medical school in Richmond, VA at Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine. He completed fellowships in pediatric pulmonology and sleep medicine at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital. He was an assistant professor at The Children’s Hospital of Richmond at VCU within the division of Pediatric Pulmonary and Sleep Medicine, and director of the pediatric sleep program for 8 years. During his last three years there, they opened the first sleep lab exclusively used for conducting pediatric sleep studies in all of central Virginia.
Dr. Brockbank works directly with the advanced practice providers to provide sleep medicine care to our patients and performs sleep study interpretation. He loves working with children because of their resilience and how quickly they can adapt and change. It’s very rewarding to see children function better and to have families live happier, healthier lives when their children sleep better.
When he is not working, he spends his time with his family cheering them on at their sporting events, doing yard work, volunteering as a scout leader in his son’s troop, and trying new restaurants with his wife and friends.
